Sucking of fingers is usually done to provide comfort. As children get older they get over this habit. - You can give your son other alternatives for comfort, like a favourite toy or book. - Try to keep hi hands busy with puzzles and educative games. This way he will be less inclined to put his thumb in his mouth. - Praise your son when he doesn't put his thumb in his mouth. Children tend to repeat actions that receive attention. If you shout at him when he puts his thumb in his mouth he might repeat this to gain attention. This is just a phase and over time you will notice your son get over this habit.
