At 2 years almost all children are stubborn and do not wish to eat anything. The solution for this isn't tonics or any medication. Since your child is active there is nothing to be concerned about. This is a good sign. Feeding one's child is one of the biggest hurdles of parenthood. Here are some tips.
- Offer your son a wide variety to eat from which includes several different vegetables, many fruits, cereals, oats, yoghurt, cheese, fresh juices, soup, beans, lentils and milk. Prepare his dishes separately without oil, spices, and almost no salt and sugar.
- Ask him to select what he would like to eat from all these nutritious options. This way he is a part of the decision.
- Next, teach him how to eat with a spoon and to feed himself. Offer him fruits and cheese as snacks to eat on his own. Independence makes children more inclined to eat.
- Making eating an activity on its own. Do not allow him to watch TV or play while eating. Make him sit at the dinner table with the rest of the family, so that he knows there is a particular schedule to eat and then also will feel like a part of the family.
Remember this is a passing phase. He will soon want to eat all different kinds of food as he grows up. Your duty is to be patient and keep his nutrition and weight in check.
If your baby is eating a little and also active there is nothing to be concerned about. There is no requirement for children to be chubby. This is just a societal norm and doesn't really apply to all children. Activity and children who manage to reach their milestones indicate a healthy child.
All babies are different. Sometimes babies are not waking up for feeding. They just want comfort. Try just patting your baby and making some calming sounds when your baby wakes up. Sometimes they just fall back to sleep.
