getting pregnant fast

Trying to get pregnant fast is often a bittersweet journey in a couple’s life. What starts off as an excuse to snuggle up and spend some quality time, soon turns into a frustrating experience for many. Couples are left scratching their head on how to get pregnant. Lifestyle changes, along with the stressful environment that we live in, has an adverse effect on women’s chances of conceiving. While it can be frustrating, there are certain ways to get pregnant fast. However, fret not, for we have you covered.

Top 14 Tips To Boost Your Chances Of Conceiving Fast

Scheduling a Preconception Checkup

Once you are ready to start a family, it is better to schedule a preconception counseling. It is not only an essential step but also a smart move to be aware of one’s medical history. The checkup will also help you to discuss any possible problems that could crop up due to medical issues in the past. Before going for a checkup, have the entire list of your present medications at hand. Doing so will help your doctor in pointing out the ones that might affect your fertility or pregnancy.

Other than a full body checkup, your doctor might also suggest you to start taking up prenatal vitamins with folic acid. Folic acid works during the early stages of pregnancy to protect against birth defects like spini-bifida. Due to its importance, it’s essential for women to have it even before they get pregnant.

Know Your Ovulation Cycle

Ovulation cycle - how to conceive

Blame it on the hectic lifestyle, but most women don’t keep a track of their menstrual cycle. For a faster pregnancy, it helps to have a grasp of your menstrual cycle, as it will help you know when you are most fertile. Ovulation, considered as the best time to try to conceive, shows itself through certain physical signs. Most common signs include:

  • A change in cervical fluid: Women often see a change in the consistency of their cervical fluid during ovulation. Ovulation usually occurs when a woman releases the most amount of wet fluid, however, experiences may vary.
  • A change in basal temperature: Checking your basal body temperature is another way of determining your time of ovulation. Your temperature might see a sudden dip as you get closer to ovulation, increasing the following day until your next period or throughout your pregnancy. To keep a track of your basal body temperature, it is better to invest in a basal body thermometer. Unlike a normal thermometer, basal body thermometer is capable of recording even the sensitive changes.
  • A change in cervical position or firmness: This particular change is one which often goes unnoticed by many women. During ovulation, your cervix will be soft, high, wet and open.

If detecting these changes and keeping a proper tab on them is not possible for you, it is better to invest in Ovulation Prediction Kits. These kits help you to know if you are ovulating, and also the best possible time for your body to conceive.

Getting Off Birth Control Pills

In case you have been using birth control pills, this is the right time to ditch it. Archaic wisdom dictated that women who have kicked the pill should wait for a certain amount of time before trying to get pregnant. That myth, however, has been debunked now.

You must also know the complications related to pregnancy.

It is possible for you to start trying to conceive right after discontinuing birth control pills. Fertility issues should not be a problem as the effect of the hormones present in the pills are not long-lasting. Your menstrual cycle after stopping would be the same as the one you had before getting on pills.

Timing Sex To Get Pregnant

Once you are aware of your ovulation cycles, it will be better for you plan your intercourse cycles accordingly. Your most fertile window, which is two to three days before ovulation, should be the time when you should be having the most sex. In case you are not aware of fertile period, try to have sex every day or every other second or third day of your cycle. This will ensure that you have a healthy sperm in your fallopian tube when your body is ready to release an egg.

If you and your partner have gone through a long dry spell, it will be better to ensure that your spouse has ejaculated once before that. Ensuring so will protect your body from the buildup of dead sperms in his semen.

Best Sex Positions To Get Pregnant

There are innumerable sex positions in the world, each one more mind-boggling than the other. However, they are just that, myths. There has been no scientific evidence which states that one sex position is better than the other when it comes to getting pregnant.

It is very rare for a woman’s cervix to be in an unusual position where a certain sex position seems more favorable than others. Women should however not sit or stand right after intercourse as it obstructs the natural trajectory of the sperm. It is better to lay in bed for a few minutes after intercourse and not move around too much.

Controlling Body Weight To Get Pregnant

For your body to get ready for pregnancy, it is best to control your body weight at the earliest. Being overweight creates a hindrance in getting pregnant, as it increases the chances of diabetes and high blood pressure. Weight related medical issues could also create complications during your pregnancy.

Visit your doctor if you feel that your weight could cause problems in your chances of conceiving. The habit of regular exercise will not only help you to lose weight but also add to your general fitness. Exercising too much should also be avoided at all cost as it has an adverse effect on your menstrual cycle.

Nutrition While Trying to Conceive

Eating a variety of nutrient-rich food will help to get your body ready. A woman needs a diet that gives her adequate amount of essential nutrients like protein, calcium, and iron. Dairy products, fruits, meat, and protein should be included in your diet for increasing your chances of conceiving. Other than taking folic acid supplements, you should also include folic acid rich food in your diet, like green leafy vegetables. Take it easy with your caffeine intake as it might decrease your fertility in the long run.

Supplementing Your Diet With Prenatal Vitamins

It might be hard for you to get all your nutrients from even a healthy and nutrient-rich diet. This is where prenatal supplements help to fill that deficiency. Taking them ensures that you are getting all of the important nutrients required by your body while you are trying to conceive. Intake of these supplements is even more important for women who have dietary restrictions, health or pregnancy related issues. Most supplements contain folic acid and iron, nutrients that most women don’t get enough from their usual diet.

Boosting His Health To Conceive Fast

Pregnancy is a task for two, which makes your partner’s health as important as yours. Like you, your partner should also exercise and eat a balanced diet to prepare his body for healthier sperms. Men should avoid wearing too tight-fitting clothes as it affects their sperm count. Spending too much time in hot tubs and saunas should be avoided at any cost by men as heat kills sperms. Testicles function the best when they are a couple of degrees lower than normal body temperature. Other than that some of the things that your partner could take care of are:

  • Avoid tobacco and recreational drugs
  • Limit their alcoholic intake
  • Get to a healthy weight if overweight
  • Get enough of important nutrients like folic acid and Vitamin C.

Avoid Smoking and Drinking To Get Pregnant Fast

While there are many reasons to kick the butt, infertility happens to the most worrying for couples looking forward to starting a family. Scientific studies suggest that smoking and infertility are intrinsically related to each other. Smoking not only leads to infertility but might also affect your chances of conceiving in the long run.

Second-hand smoke is equally bad for a woman as it leads to a loss of her eggs, along with premature menopause. Alcohol consumption should also be kept minimal if you are trying to get pregnant as it has often been linked to higher risk of infertility.

Yes to Foreplay, No to Lube

If you are trying to get pregnant, now might be the right time to engage your partner in some intense foreplay. Most lubricants available in the market are toxic for sperms and may obstruct your chances of getting pregnant. While there are some formulas that are fertility-friendly, it is better to use this opportunity to engage in foreplay.

Kissing or touching are just some of the many things that you can do get into the mood. However, if you do need some extra lubrication it will be better to go for mineral oil, canola oil, or hydroxyethylcellulose-based lubricants.

Unclutter Your Mind When Trying To Conceive

Other than getting your body ready for a pregnancy, couples should also be psychologically ready for the task. Conceiving a baby often takes a longer time than expected, which leaves many couples stressed out. It is important for you and your partner to get a handle on your stress, as it often affects your fertility. Engage in activities with your partner that helps both of you to relax. Acupuncture, yoga or pilates are just some of the many things that you can do together as couples.

The Age Factor For Fertility

In an era of intense competition, it is normal for couples to delay starting a family. Most women are holding out till they are in their thirties or forties to start a new family. While in most cases if the woman is fit, there is no problem in a late pregnancy. However, having a baby at the right age increases your chances of conceiving. Women above the age of thirty-five often have problems conceiving due to fertility issues. Advancing age might also give rise to many health problems like uterine fibroids, blockage of fallopian tubes and endometriosis. These issues might severely affect their chances of getting pregnant.

Seeking Help at the Right Time

Other than trying their best to conceive, couples should be open to the idea of seeking help from experts when required. If you are a couple below the age of thirty-five, who has not been able to get pregnant even after a year of trying it is better to seek the help of a fertility specialist. In case you are an older couple, seek the help of an expert if you have not been able to conceive after trying for six months. Here are 7 smart ideas to test pregnancy at home.

Hello Anuradha, Actually the Chinese Calendar is rumored to be working on gender prediction of a baby. So it isn’t directly related to Pregnancy. Happy Parenting. 🙂
