Weight issues are the issues that almost every child and their parents suffer with. Till 6 months of age, only breast milk should be given as it is the healthiest of all for that particular age. But, after 6 months, many other foods and drinks can be given to the babies for increasing weight and develop health of the kids.

#1. Nuts
Nuts are a healthy option to increase weight. A 1/4th cup of dry-roasted mixed nuts contains approximately 200 calories. The nuts are rich in vitamin E, good fat and proteins.
Nuts are a great source of weight gain due to the high oil content in it. You can also go for the nuts butter as well, like almond butter or peanut butter as spreads.
- Give the children a handful of mixed well grounded nuts.
- Add as the toppings on the milkshakes or porridges.
Note: make sure that the nuts are well-grounded in order to prevent choking.
#2. Rice
Rice contains 75% of carbohydrates, which help baby gain weight faster. It also contains minerals, vitamin B and iron. Give rice with some breast milk or formula milk. By this, rice will not add any excessive or not required weight to the baby. Try rice with some pulses or ghee for a better taste.

It is said that ghee makes all dishes taste better but do not overdo it. You can add it in all the foods after 7 months of age, starting with few drops initially and increasing the quantity gradually.
Ghee can be sometimes heavy for the baby, so give it moderately. Always be safe, and for this, give only the homemade ghee to the baby, which is free from all the chemicals and preservatives.
#38. Peanut butter
Peanuts are an excellent source for increasing weight and hence, give the peanut butter to the child. It is a calorie dense protein rich food.
- Spread a teaspoon of the peanut butter on a slice of bread and give it to your 1-month-older.
- One can also combine it with jams and other spreads.
- Make cookies including the peanut butter.
Note for any allergies to peanuts with the child and do not give with the same case.
#39. Virgin coconut oil
It is recommended to use virgin coconut oil. Add a teaspoon full of virgin coconut oil to the baby’s food.
